Learn how to advocate for the advancement of quality supported living and independent living services in California.  These sites will offer you many resources to utilize not only during tough budgetary times, but throughout the year.  Many sites are consumer friendly, and designed for encouraging family advocacy.

  • Disability Rights California - Protecting and advancing the rights of individuals with disabilities across California for more than 40 years.
  • Disability Rights ADVOCATES - To advance the rights, inclusion, and equity of people with disabilities through high-impact litigation, education, and advocacy.
  • Disability Organizing Network (DOnetwork) - The DOnetwork calls to action the California Disability Communities and allies, through community organizing, advocacy, education, leadership development and coalition building to effect systems change in local, state and national issues.
  • Southeast ADA Center -  Information, Guidance and Training on the Americans with Disabilities Act
  • The Consortium for Constituents with Disabilities - CCD is the largest coalition of national organizations working together to advocate for federal public policy that ensures the self-determination, independence, empowerment, integration and inclusion of children and adults with disabilities in all aspects of society.
  • The World Institute on Disability - WID advances the inclusion, rights and justice of people with disabilities with the design and delivery of whole community solutions.
  • American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) - The American Association of People with Disabilities is a convener, connector, and catalyst for change, increasing the political and economic power of people with disabilities.
  • California Yellow Pages for Kids with Disabilities - Topics include Advocacy 101, Parent as Expert, Special Ed Law, Strategies, Getting Help, Yellow Pages, Success Stories.
  • California Disability Community Action Network (CDCAN) - Advocacy Without Borders: Connecting people with disabilities and seniors to rights and unified action.
  • The Center for Peer Networking (CPN) - A program of the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD) - Serves as the national representative and advocate for state mental health agencies and their directors and supports effective stewardship of state mental health systems.
  • Health & Disability Advocates - HDA is a national nonprofit organization that promotes income security and improved health care access for children, people with disabilities, and low-income older adults.
  • Inclusion Daily Express - Worldwide e-mail news service that reports on community inclusion, self-determination and disability rights. Covers employment, advocacy, relationships, inclusive education, laws, family, accessibility, assistive technology and more.
  • Let's Get Together, Inc. - Mark Johnson, disability rights advocate, New Mobility Magazine's 2001 Person of the Year, and 2007 Betts Award Winner, created this new website dedicated to the pioneers of the movement and the people and groups making a difference.
  • National Association for Rights Protection and Advocacy - NARPA is dedicated to promoting those policies and pursuing those strategies that represent the preferred options of people who have been labeled mentally disabled.
  • Nonprofit Advocacy - Information on types of advocacy, training and workshop calendar, rules and regulations. budget, advocacy polls, links to leverage outreach capacity.
  • People First of California - People First of California, Inc. is determined to increase personal and economic independence and capabilities; defend civil rights; and eliminate prejudice and discrimination of people with developmental disabilities.
  • PLAN - Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network - Safeguarding the future of people with disabilities. PLAN has released a new book titled "A Good Life" to help families plan for the future of a family member with disabilities.
